I believe that worship is much more than just singing songs and listening to a sermon once a week. It is a lifestyle that defines our relationship with God. In the simplest of terms, worship is a response to an encounter with God and His truth. We can encounter God through His word in a corporate setting, like in a Sunday worship service, or in a personal setting as we read and study the Bible on our own. But encountering God is only half of the relationship. Worship is what we do in response to our encounters with God. These responses can be expressed in different ways such as praise, obedience, surrender, increased faith, a desire to share the gospel with others, etc.
In Youth Group we have been talking about getting or having holy Ambition...Worship and a christian life are so linked together. This week we will be talking about having Radical Faith...
What does radical faith look like?
- Radical faith essentially is when you put Gods agenda before your own. We talk about and see people who have this radical faith...there are books and movies made about such people. As christians we are all supposed to have this radical faith.
- Realistically if we are going to have this radical faith our lives are going to look different than our friends and even in most cases our families. The american upward mobility model doesn't really fit the radical faith model. It may be that instead of going to college and getting some letters behind our name we start working in the slums or with homeless kids or begin a soup kitchen...or listen to God's call on our life.
I wish that I would have had an ear for God's voice as a young person...and would have followed him...who knows what could have been accomplished through me...and those I came in contact with.
